Red items
This area needs urgent attention. It may be illegal or unsafe to drive your vehicle in this condition. Anything marked red needs repairing urgently.

Amber items
Amber marks out the symptoms that warn you there’s something wrong. It might not need urgent attention right now, but if you don’t watch it closely it may result in a more serious problem. Catch it before it gets worse and you could also save yourself a lot of time and money.

Green items
Good news – the all clear. You shouldn’t need to worry about any green items at least until your next service.

Our expert staff will explain the report fully to you, to help you decide what action to take, if any.

You may not be aware that over 10% of air-con gas permeates from the air-con system every year, which means that it may not work as well as it should. This is why car manufacturers recommend your Air-Con system is recharged with gas and lubricant every 2 years. This service is not part of routine vehicle servicing, so if your vehicle is more than 2 years old it’s probably due a recharge.

SERVICE
Having your Ford serviced regularly can help to maintain its efficiency, improving fuel economy and reducing CO2 emissions. This also helps you to reduce your carbon footprint and can save you money.

When will your vehicle need a service?

It is important that you have your vehicle serviced in line with the service intervals applicable to your vehicle as detailed in your Service Portfolio.

What’s included in a Ford service?

The precise content of each service varies for different models. The content will also vary according to how you use your vehicle. Your dealer will supply you with a copy of the complete service check sheet, listing all of the service operations carried out on your vehicle, on completion of each service.

All servicing work includes a free 30 point FORD eCHECK to ensure any minor problems are spotted sooner rather than later. For a full list of the checks covered in each scheduled service, please ask your Dealer.

Bring your Ford back to your local dealer will ensure the use of genuine Ford parts and Ford Trained technicians, keeping your vehicle in the very best condition.

A scheduled service can help in the following ways:

Using the correct oil and changing it at the correct intervals

Infrequent oil changes or using the wrong type of oil can increase CO2 emissions, as well as shortening the life expectancy of your engine. We use the most fuel-efficient oil suitable for your vehicle, providing up to 3% improved fuel economy.Of course, you may already be achieving these savings if you’re using the correct oil and changing it at the right time.

Accurate tyre pressures

Did you know that 44% of all UK cars are running with under-inflated tyres?

The tyre pressure gauges used by Ford are extremely accurate and guarantee your tyre pressures are set correctly. 25% too low tyre pressure reduces fuel efficiency by 2%. Having the correct tyre pressure can save you up to £37 on fuel per year.

Air filter check

During your scheduled service we check the condition of the air filter to ensure it is functioning correctly. Blocked filters cause the engine to work harder and therefore increase its CO2 emissions.

Vehicle servicing by our Dealers

Like any vehicle, your Ford needs servicing regularly to keep it in the best condition and to help maintain its value. Only a Ford Dealer has Ford-trained technicians, Ford-specific tools and the latest computerised diagnostic equipment designed specifically for your Ford. All Ford Dealers use original Ford parts, engineered to fit and perform perfectly with your vehicle.

Battery faults are the most common cause of breakdown. Batteries can die at any time of year but it’s more likely in winter when cold temperatures hit car batteries with a triple-whammy:

*power output drops
*ability to accept a charge drops, so the battery doesn’t recharge as quickly when you’re driving
*load increases – lights, blowers, wipers, heated seats, rear-screen heater etc. are all used more

Battery problems can be avoided.When we service your car we check that clamps and connections to the battery are secure and free from corrosion, but there are a few simple tips you can follow to reduce the chance of your battery letting you down in the depths of winter;

Age
If the battery is more than five years old and there’s any sign of it struggling to start the car, get it replaced. Some will struggle on for a bit but many won’t. It’s much better done at your convenience than as a roadside emergency.

Charge
If you mostly do short journeys or leave the car standing for days at a time, invest in a modern battery conditioner/intelligent charger (We sell these) These can be left connected to the battery indefinitely and can prolong its life without overcharging it.

Load
Check that everything electrical is turned off when you park up – even an interior light, boot light, or radio left on overnight can kill a battery when it’s cold.

Give the battery a chance
Switch off everything electrical and dip the clutch to reduce the load on the battery when you start a cold car.

Need a new battery?
Pop in for a visit and we can test and if necessary replace your old battery – at a time convenient for you. If it turns out that your battery just needs charging then we can offer an overnight charge.
